Neck Tension Relief (KST Method)

Advance Neck Tension Relief Massage (KST Method)

The Neck Tension Relief Treatment, or Kae-Sen-Thai (KST), also known as the Thai Myofascial Release Technique, is an intensive and meticulous therapy focused exclusively on the neck. Due to the highly complex nature of the neck musculature, this technique requires significant experience and anatomical knowledge to successfully loosen the tissue.

Who Is This Treatment For?

An increasing number of people adopt a hunched, unhealthy posture due to prolonged use of mobile phones or computers. Most people rarely receive a truly deep neck treatment. Tense neck muscles inevitably lead to unnatural facial movements. For many individuals, this chronic tension causes their head to tilt, restricting their ability to fully rotate their neck. This deep-seated tension can lead to feelings of dizziness and often interferes with sleep.

Our practitioners

Use a specialised 'Rhythmic Plucking Technique' much like the delicate plucking of guitar strings to precisely release and reset individual muscle fibres. We apply specialised, detailed attention to release and restore the deepest layers of neck muscles, including (but not limited to):

  • Sternocleidomastoid (SCM): Often responsible for pulling the head forward.
  • Scalenes: Frequently involved in restricted rotation and referred pain down the arms.
  • Trapezius (Upper Fibers): The primary muscle that holds chronic tension and leads to stiffness.
  • Suboccipital Muscles: Small, deep muscles at the base of the skull that cause tension headaches and dizziness. (Rectus Capitis Posterior Major, Rectus Capitis Posterior Minor, Obliquus Capitis Superior, and Obliquus Capitis Inferior)
  • Splenius Capitis & Cervicis: Posterior muscles that support the skull; when released, they alleviate the "heavy head" sensation and improve upward mobility.  • Levator Scapulae: The "stiff neck" muscle that connects the neck to the shoulder blade; releasing this is key to restoring head rotation and relieving "crunchy" shoulders. This advanced technique is designed to soothe muscles and nerves, stimulate the circulatory system, and effectively alleviate chronic pain, neck stiffness, migraines, and headaches.

The History of the Kae-Sen-Thai Technique

The History of the Kae-Sen-Thai Technique The KAE-SEN-THAI TECHNIQUE (KST) is a highly specialised skill that requires the practitioner to have calm focus and a thorough understanding of anatomy. It uses very specific, delicate, snake-like movements to loosen the complex configuration of the neck muscles, taking even the smallest muscles into account.

This helps to alleviate pain or stiffness in the neck and face, and can even reduce the symptoms of migraines and headaches. After this treatment, you will feel a sense of lightness and freedom in your neck. You will notice the difference as your previously tense, inflamed muscles achieve complete release. These techniques originate from a secret 200-year-old family technique, passed down through four generations of traditional folk practitioners from South-Central Thailand.

Treatment Pressure Level: Medium to Deep (Customised). (While the technique uses a "plucking" motion rather than heavy leaning pressure, the sensation can be intense as we reach deep muscle layers. Our therapists constantly communicate with you to ensure the intensity is within your comfort zone while still being effective for myofascial release.)
